The AP government has reportedly intensified efforts for securing a new railway line for the ancient Buddhist village of Amaravati in Guntur district. The state government is confident that establishing a new rail network connecting three mandals of new capital city with the rest of the country will enhance tourism, and attract pilgrims particularly from the Buddhist nations.

Currently two mandals Mangalagiri and Tadepalle are being covered by a rail network and there is no  access to Tullur mandal, the place where state administrative buildings such as Raj Bhavan and the state Assembly are proposed.

The state government is now proposing an exclusive railway line for Amaravati village via Tulluru. The new line can then be connected to Vijayawada towards one side and Sattenapalle on the other side which provides national connectivity to the existing Amaravati village as well as the upcoming Amaravati city.

The state government is also seeking connectivity to Amaravati with Vijayawada-Chennai rail line on one hand and also the Hyderabad-Guntur line on the other side. It has even requested the Centre to extend the proposed railway line from Amaravati towards the Guntur-Nandyal line which will enable easy access to Rayalaseema.
