The growing demand for a
separate Rayalaseema state seems to have in a way landed YSR Congress
party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy in a completely embarrassing situation.
There are reports that Jagan has started to worry about this.
He has been trying to rebuild his vote bank in the region of coastal Andhra, particularly the belt of East and West Godavari districts. Sources say that he has found himself in a fully tight spot with many of his own party leaders making tall and controversial statements over Rayalaseema statehood.
Recently YSR Congress party’s political affairs committee person M V Mysura Reddy had declared that he is now all set and ready to lead the new agitation for separate Seema. At the same time even party MLA G Srikanth Reddy had also announced his open support to the demand.
This has very much irked Jagan, who has interests all over the state of Andhra Pradesh. If his party is seen as the one behind separate Seema demand, he would have to eventually confine himself to just four districts and forgo nine coastal Andhra districts. Jagan reportedly pulled up the Seema leaders and asked them to keep their mouths shut.
