There have been more concerns regarding
the safety of women working at IT companies. There are lots of
threatening factors. Recently a 25 year old cashier was raped inside
Pune campus at Infosys. Two male housekeeping staffers followed her into
the women's washroom and one of them raped her.
And
the other one recorded the entire rape. Worst thing more than the rape
is the company never reported the matter to Police and the company
waited for the survivor to approach the Police station herself. The rape
survivor is married and she was from Yevatmal.
She
moved to Pune as crops were hit by drought in Marathwada. The rape
survivor said, "I don't want to stay inside the city any longer. The
city has spoiled my life. I will fight till the end and I wanted the
culprit to be punished. The main accused was Paritosh (21). When I was
washing my hands, Bagh grabbed me from behind, removed my saree and
raped me.
When I screamed for help,
another man Prakash (30) entered. But instead of helping, he took his
mobile and he filmed the rape." Bagh was charged for rape under Section
376, and both were charged under Sections 354 (assault or criminal force
to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 34 (common intention)
of the IPC.
