Rajya Sabha has been adjourned twice
due to Congress members. The protests continued till noon and Congress
are still raising anti-government slogans. Deputy Chairman P.J.Kurien
arrived and even before he took his seat, Congress members were in a
hurry-bury to shout and they shouted slogans like, "Tanashahi nahi
chalegi, nahi chalegi (dictatorship will not be tolerated)."
Along
with them, other members also came in to oppose the multi-purpose
Polavaram irrigation project. They carried some boards which had
statements like "Polavaram will harm Odisha", "Condemn Polavaram. Stop
Stop" and "We Oppose Polavaram."
Despite
all these Kurien had a list of papers on his table. Mr.Kurien called
Wansuk Syiem for a petition. But despite calling him repeatedly Wansuk
Syiem never moved his petition.
The
petition was to strengthen Non-lapsable central pool for resources
(NLCPR) schemes. And for the people who showed placards, Mr.Kurien said,
"You all knew that displaying placards is not allowed. Shouting slogan
is also not allowed. Coming into well is also not allowed."
