Few minutes
back we reported that a London couple came all the way to India to do a
cataract surgery on the eye. The old couple said they saved 4000 pounds
and the treatment was also satisfactory. Indian doctors are so talented.
Now we hear the first heart transplantation was done to a 30 year old
woman at Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS).
This
is the first hospital in Telangana to achieve this feat. After the
bifurcation, there have been lots of surgeries made in the new state but
this is the first heart transplantation made.
The
surgery was done by a team lead by Dr.R.V.Kumar who is head of Cardio
Thoracic Surgery department, and Dr Gopinath, head of anesthesiology
department. The surgery has happened at Yashoda hospital. The donor
heart came from P.Vinay Kumar who is 20 years old.
He
was trapped in an accident at Warangal and doctors declared him as
brain dead. The surgery happened for seven hours. Doctors said that the
surgery started by 12.30am and ended by 7.30am. Dr.R.V.Kumar said the
patient has got consciousness and she is recovering.
