Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation
election dates have been announced. The polling will take place on
January 23rd. The government is yet to announce the reservations for 150
wards. Now expectations raise as which ward will get which which
reservation category.
The government
will announce reservations and issue notifications regarding this today.
Telangana Government had planned to conduct election on 17th January.
But due to lots of criticism, the elections was postponed after
Sankranthi.
Political parties pointed
out that Seemandhra voters who constitute a major chunk of voters in
GHMC limits go to their native places to celebrate Sankranthi and it
will be hectic for them to return back to Hyderabad after Sankranthi.
Other parties blamed TRS idea as they were intentionally planning to
avoid Seemandhra voters.
But now the
decision of one week gap after Sankranthi has been a huge relief for
rest of the parties too. The counting for the votes will also begin
shortly after the polling ended. Watch out this space for more updates.
