Indians have an opinion on journalists that
they are very close to local politicians and higher officials. They influence and
have their mark in each and every segment of society. But; it’s only our
misunderstanding if we think in the same way. This is not same throughout the
country. Our journalists are facing struggles in day to day life; the path they
work is not a flower laid but thorn way.
In a survey conducted on journalists in Asia; many interesting facts were reported. Indian journalists are facing a life threat in their career. Out of 110 journalists deaths noted in the world; in 2015 survey; 9 are from India. Out of them; collection of news related to mining; crimes of politicians is a major task. Most of them lost their lives in finding the facts related these issues. There is no protecting for them while working which is the main reason for their death. That is why; Journalists should be assured with a protection from government so that they can work freely for the betterment of society and avoid murders of journalists as opined by Reporters without Borders (RSF).
In reality; there is no safety for good officers itself. We can see how politicians become owners of each and every property of government after winning in the elections. Murder attempts; attacks and rapes have become more in recent years. But it is really a point to think about number one ranking in journalists’ murders.
