If you were wondering what's more important than sex, cool down: there is a whole bunch of things, with food topping the list, according to an online poll conducted by Harris Interactive.
According to huffingtonpost.com, on a list of 10 things "people can't live without", sex ranks near the bottom behind food, cars, Internet access, cellphones and computers and just ahead of navigation systems, social networks and tablets.
The numbers, in an infographic from Statista, said it all: Food - 73 per cent, car 42 per cent, Internet access 28 per cent, mobile phones 26 per cent, computer/laptop 24 per cent, television 23 per cent, sex 20 per cent, navigation system 8 per cent, social networking sites 7 per cent and tablet computer 6 per cent.
The report cited a survey showing that 20 per cent of young adults check their smartphones during sex. In the UK, 62 per cent of women and 48 per cent of men have admitted to checking their phones during the act, it added.
The huffingtonpost.com report comes amid the National Survey of Sexual Attitudes and Lifestyles, saying on average we have sex fewer than five times a month, compared to six-and-half times 20 years ago. According to Daily Mail, studies have linked regular sexual activity to emotional well-being, reduced migraine pain and even a lower risk of prostate cancer.
A Canadian study last month found that half an hour of sexual activity could burn more calories than walking on a treadmill.
