11th International Food Data Conference held in Hyderabad
The 11th International Food Data Conference has been held at National Institute of Nutrition in Hyderabad on 3 November, 2015. The conference has been attended by 350 delegates from 51 countries. It was the first time to conduct this conference in India. The conference has been jointly organised by the International Network of Food Databases (Infoods), Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) and National Institute of Nutrition (NIN). The NIN will come out with revised ‘nutritive values of Indian foods’ in December.

Manpreet Vohra appointed India’s new envoy to Afghanistan
Senior diplomat Manpreet Vohra has been appointed as India’s Ambassador to Afghanistan, succeeding Amar Sinha. Vohra, a 1988-batch Indian Foreign Service officer, is currently serving as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs. Vohra had served in the Indian High Commission in Pakistan as the Deputy High Commissioner. He had also served as India’s Ambassador to Peru.

IPL COO Sundar Raman resigned
The Indian Premier League’s Chief Operating Officer (COO), Sundar Raman resigned from his position on 3 November, 2015. The BCCI accepted his resignation. Employed as Managing Director of Mindshare, Raman was brought to the IPL in 2008 by Lalit Modi. Raman worked nearly 8 years for IPL.

Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Malik announced retirement for Test cricket
Former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik announced his retirement from Test cricket on 3 November, 2015. He played 35 tests, scoring 1,898 runs with three centuries and eight half centuries. In bowling he has taken 29 wickets.

Tropical Cyclone Chapala hits Yemen
A rare tropical Cyclone Chapala hits Yemen triggering heavy flooding and causing damage in coastal region of the country. The cyclone made landfall in the south eastern provinces of Yemen in Arabian Sea bringing winds of speed more than 100 kms per hour. It is the second-strongest cyclone on record over the Arabian Sea, only after Cylone Gonu (2007).
