The Hyderabad district will reportedly become smaller with three more districts all set to be carved out from this. Soon, Greater Hyderabad will be having four districts which also includes Hyderabad.

Telangana government is examining a proposal for splitting Greater Hyderabad into four revenue districts covering a vast area which also includes 24 Assembly constituencies. Secunderabad will reportedly be one among these new districts.

This proposal of new districts for Greater Hyderabad is considered since the GHMC is spread over 625 sq km even as people have been facing hardships for reaching the Hyderabad and also Ranga Reddy district collectorates to fulfill various purposes.

Once Hyderabad gets divided into four districts, the Ranga Reddy district is expected confined to only some parts  such as Vikarabad and Tandur. The state government is expected to merge few areas from Ranga Reddy and Medak districts. Areas in the eastern Ranga Reddy like Uppal, Boduppal and Ghatkesar would be merged into a new district whereas Malkajgiri, Alwal, and Shamirpet, Qutbullapur, Kukatpally and Medchal would be part of a new district.
