Chittoor mayor Katari Anuradha (50) and
her husband, Katari Mohan (56) of TDP party were killed brutally in a
gang attack five days back. In a shocking manner when Anuradha and Mohan
were in the mayor’s chamber interacting with some corporators and their
supporters, four member gang entered the chamber and murdered the
mayor.
Many say local
people's warnings, stories about impending attack in media didnot alert
the government or police officials. Insiders say an influential person
who wish to become the most feared don in Chittor is behind the murder.
There
may be many other reasons for the murder but the main motive is to gain
upper hand in Chittoor politics. Even police investigations prove the
same. Rowdyism has become rampant in Chittoor and instead of winning the
hearts of people through development, many believed in rowdyism and
creating fear.
Till 1980s
situation was different but later Chittoor politics took a violent turn.
Leaders prospered as even youth got attracted towards them. Had AP
government took note of earlier warnings some ten months back in local
papers, things would have been different.
AP
CM Chandra Babu Naidu after the murder of mayor in his meetings with
top cops issued strong warning to police special branch and intelligence
officials.
