India is not encouraging Coal consumption

The climate change summit is happening around and during this India has denied western media's criticism that India is spoiling the climate with coal consumption. But India has dismissed reports based on the coal consumption to meet energy needs.

Regarding this, Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar said, "Certain criticism without attributing any motive to them, I take it as compliment. It does not deter me from my positions."

India already made promise that it will reduce the coal consumption if developed countries provide the needed finance and technology to switch to clean energy sources. India is planning to make 40% of electricity from renewable by 2030. The minister said that if we increase our renewable by seven fold we can decrease the coal consumption.

We have asked USA and other countries. Minister also said that If India is the third largest emitter, we are the third in sequence but the smallest. India is just burning 1/7th of coal that the first two (emitters) are doing. A solution is expected regarding this at the earliest.
