National Games 2019 Confirmed in Amaravati?
Though it hasn’t been officially declared, the National Games of 2019 is all set for being held in Amaravati, the newly proposed capital city of Andhra Pradesh. The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) general body had organized a meeting in Guwahati on Wednesday.

Here it was agreed to allot the 37th edition of India’s National Games to the residual AP state that also emerged as the lone bidder with around Rs 50 lakh being the final bid amount. Olympic Association secretary R K Purushottam was all praise for AP. He said that they are fully aware of chief minister Chandrababu Naidu's experience while organising the 2002 National Games in the city of Hyderabad and also the Afro-Asian Games in 2003 and hence IOA had favoured AP's bid.

Telangana Olympic Association’s president K Ranga Rao had welcomed the news that AP had bagged the prestigious National Games. Naidu is very sure of bringing the National Games to the state since he is planning to showcase Amaravati as a world class capital.

When he organized 2002 games, Naidu was able to project Hyderabad as the wonder capital then and is keen on replicating the same model for Amaravati. Goa is hosting o National Games in 2016, Chhattisgarh, while Uttarakhand and Haryana placed bids for the 2018 games.
