For the last few decades, it was Kammas
who have more or less dominated the city of Hyderabad in different
arenas. Traditionally, the Velamas were staunch supporters of the TDP in
AP and Telangana. But the bonhomie between these two communities was
passé with the emergence of TRS and KCR.
A
community which was seen as playing second-fiddle to the Kammas for a
long time now has its own king. If one can judge the actions of KCR, he
seems to be bent on ensuring that the political and public legacy of the
Kammas in Telangana and Hyderabad is brought to an end.
Although he had accommodated Tummala Nageswara Rao from Kammas in the
cabinet,
it was only due to political compulsion to strengthen in their bastion
of Khammam. KCR undertook a witch hunt of ABN Radhakrishna which is now a
key part of Telangana folklore.
What
was very visible was that there was lack of any commemoration or
acknowledgement of any form by KCR or his government regarding NTR’s
20th death anniversary on January 18th which only reinforces the
objective of erasing Kamma legacy!
