2015 has been a year of controversial
politics that raveled the nation. Not much to the surprise, the year is
an eventful one, with lots of political developments and tilts that

1. ‘Bharat Ratna’ Vaajpayee
India’s
ex-prime minister and favorite statesman, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, was
honored with the highest civilian award, Bharat Ratna, by President
Pranab Mukherjee. The award itself is enough to prove the distinct
personality and caliber of the former PM.
Arvind
Kejriwal was one man who changed the face of corrupted politics in
India by storming into the Delhi elections. His party, AAP made a
historic victory, winning 67 out of 70 seats in the election in
February. His promise of zero tolerance to corruption was welcomed
tremendously by the people in the heart of India city. Kejriwal made an
effective use of social media, bypassing TV cameras and press
conferences.
3. Lalu’s extraordinary comeback
The
Bihar polls turned out to be a grand comeback for RJD chief Lalu
Prasad, who rose from his ashes of previous debacles. Narendra Modi-led
BJP government was said to seize the Nitish-Lalu alliance but political
shrewdness of Lalu ultimately stopped the BJP juggernaut and made a
resounding victory in the elections.
4. CM Jayalalithaa's acquittal in DA case
The
high court verdict made against the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister
Jayalalitha previous year was thrashed this year May 11th by Judge CR
Kumaraswamy. The propitious order in the infamous disproportionate
assets case was criticized as a gross failure of justice. However, the
truth and hype behind the Acquittal of CM of a state and charges of
political sabotage created nationwide controversy.
5. Amaravati, new capital of Andra Pradesh
In
early 2015, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu announced Amaravati as the
capital of AP. Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation stone on October
22 for the new capital. It is criticized as political selfishness to be
the cause of this Andhra division.
