The transport department has come up
with a new rule from Monday which will enable the two-wheeler and car
owners to get their vehicles registered at the showroom and the need to
make multiple visits to Regional Transport Authority (RTA) for
registering the new vehicle.
B
Venkateshwarlu the Joint Transport Commissioner has said that to start
with the dealers would only collect registration fee fixed by the
department. Paucity of RTA offices, employers’ scarcity among many other
reasons has led to the new rule. The department is also planning to
allow registrations of new vehicles at the automobile showrooms in a
phased manner.
The showroom dealers
would complete the formalities required for registration of the vehicle
after obtaining necessary documents from the customers and submit them
to the RTA office. The owner would get a temporary registration
immediately.
The rule has been
successfully implemented in Delhi, Gujarat, Mumbai, Pune and Chennai has
been successful. As many as 8,000 new vehicles (cars and two wheelers)
are sold every day in Telangana. It is a good news for the people as
they need not spend many time in doing the registrations.
