New Zealand will have a new flag. The
New Zealanders have chosen a new flag design. But now the big question
is how many people will support this. To choose the flag design, there
was a postal ballot.
The winning design
features a silver fern and red stars on a black and blue background. So
right now the new design will have face-off with the current flag
design. There will be a National voting in March. The new design is
similar to the current flag, but the colours are all messed up.
It
also ditches the British Union Jack in favor of the fern. It was
already used by many sports team. This includes 'All Blacks rugby team'.
It has to be noted that the New Zealand got more than 10,000 Designs
when choosing their new flag.
Deputy
Prime Minister Bill English said New Zealanders have ample time during
Summer holidays to decide which flag they prefer. That is the reason we
have kept the voting during month of March. He said everyone is eligible
to vote and people who never voted for first ballot are also eligible.
