People
love late President Abdul Kalam who cast a magic spell with his down to
earth attitude and humble nature. Popular as Missile Man, Kalam set new
standards on how a President should be.
He motivated many youngsters with his speeches and surprised politicians with his deft moves. When he passed away entire nation shed tears and many voluntarily erected posters to show their love on him.
When
his Presidential term was completed, he didnot take even single penny
with him. However much to the shocker, government-run Bharat Sanchar
Nigam Limited (BSNL) shocked all by sending outstanding telephone bill
notive to Abdul Kalam.
The
notice was dated 18 Nov,2015 asking the late President to opt for a
one-time settlement to clear the long-pending due of Rs 1,029 (phone no
2724800) or face revenue recovery action. It also directed the
Thiruvananthapuram region revenue recovery officer to seize his movable
and unmovable properties if he failed to clear the bill.
The notice was signed by the Accounts Officer (TR-OSP), Trivandrum region. Though the bill period was not mentioned, it came out that the bill was generated when Kalam stayed as a guest at he Kerala raj Bhawan for two days.
This triggered huge anger among people and
BSNL in a damage control mode said it sent notices not to Kalam but to
Raj Bhawan. It issued apologies for using Kalam's name in the issue.
