India is struggling with more number of
dengue deaths each year. The Mexican Government has approved the world's
first anti-dengue vaccine and this can be applied to people of age
group from 9 to 45 years. There are four sub types of the virus. The
first authorization is provided to Indian company as per sources.
The
vaccine is called as Dengvaxia and it is developed by France-based
Sanofi Pasteur and it is a result of an extensive clinical development
program. Olivier Brandicourt said in a statement that, "We have finally
achieved our goal of making dengue the next vaccine preventable
disease.
We have market the
authorization of Dengvaxia. This is indeed a milestone for our company,
for all the health companies and whole health community. This is a boon
to the people who live with the fear of receiving denture." Dengvaxia is
the first vaccine to get license with respect to prevention of dengue.
The
WHO has called on endemic countries to reduce dengue mortality by 50
per cent and morbidity by 25 per cent by 2020. Most scientists say that
this is a major break through in field of health care.
