Telangana CM is exploring
Sources
say that the Telangana CM is exploring many options to increase the
state income and has reportedly decided to increase taxes by a huge
margin on key commodities like Petrol, Diesel and Liquor.
The
government is all set to impose Transport Cess on both Petrol and
Diesel. With this cess, the government of Telangana is planning to raise
nearly 3000 Crore per year. Thus raised money would be used for
improving the roads and also for basic infrastructure maintenance.
Telangana
is also planning increase sales taxes on Liquor. So far the state
earned around 8000 Crore from a fixed earlier target of 12000 Crore.
With the imposition of extra taxes, the government is hoping to raise
another 3000 Crore which will complement various welfare schemes
launched by the state. This would be done after GHMC elections.
