Zika Virus is one of the rare virus
which can make people sick with rash, fever, joint pain, and pinkeye.
This is a rare mosquito-borne virus and it rapidly spreading through
Brazil and now the case history has reached Texas. Health officials are
alarmed as the virus may affect new born babies too.
So
what is this Zika Virus ? It is a virus which is related to Dengue and
Chikungunya. The illness isn't severe and it lasts up to a week. In
Brazil, the number of infant deaths read as 38. Health officials are
worried that the Zika outbreak in Brazil may be linked to a dramatic
increase in babies being born with unusually small heads.
Health
authorities are also worried as they are clueless with respect to
treatment. Zika can be transmitted when someone with the virus is bitten
by a mosquito and then that mosquito bites another human.
The
virus can also spread from infected mother to a newborn. At the same
time even with sexual contact this virus can spread easily. One must be
careful with Blood trasnfusions too. The best prevention strategy is
taking steps to avoid getting bitten by mosquitoes.
