In what is being seen as a surprise
move, the Andhra Pradesh government will be supporting the argument of
Telangana government at Supreme Court regarding the fresh allocation of
Krishna waters among the four riparian states.
This
will be strengthening the argument of Telangana, which is insisting
that Krishna water be once again re-distributed among four states. While
Maharashtra and Karnataka are already opposing the demand saying that
water that was allotted to undivided AP should be shared between
Telangana and the residuary AP , as per the award finalised by Brijesh
Kumar Tribunal in the year 2013.
The case is coming up for hearing in the apex court on January 13.
The Centre would be submitting its stand on this question raised by
Telangana. The AP government deciding to sail with Telangana would now
bring pressure on the Centre.
The recent
meetings of Naidu and K Chandrasekhar Rao has reportedly changed the
dynamics in the arguments of two states on Krishna water sharing and
Chandrababu feels that once the award is opened for a review, then both
AP and Telangana will stand to benefit!
